scensters with beanies and skinnies

So I got up at a reasonable time today. We headed for the bus around 10am to catch a ride to Cartago to see the old ruins of a church. It was me, Jap, and Queens. We got into the town and it was very local. Unlike San Jose, the people weren't as used to seeing foreigners. While wandering around looking for the ruins we managed to visit a high school and a church. The Ticus are very much like the people back home. They go for jogs, bmx, speedbike down highways...even the way they dress. There's a heavy western influence on the people here. If i didn't know any better, i would have thought that i just saw a couple of scenesters. I guess that's why sometimes, i forget where i am. This morning before checking out of the hostel, i was watching, "according to jim" on tv with spanish subtitles. And even in the small town of Cartagos there were promo posters up for NOFX coming to town. I hear almost as much english music as i do reggaeton here. Every now and then, i wake up a bit and remember that i'm not home. Today while in Cartagos, we went to eat at a "Sodas" which are like little local eateries. I'm not going to lie...I will probably head over there for dinner tonight. It's 3 in the afternoon now so i should be off to the next hotel. I plan on walking over there as it isn't too far. Tomorrow, the tour starts; today is my last day of relaxation as i'm sure the next couple of weeks would be go-go-go.
